About the Café

The Lawn Cafe in Lincoln is a charming respite just steps away from the historic Lincoln Castle. Housed in the former cookhouse of the ‘Lincoln Lunatic Asylum,’ where modern mental health treatment was pioneered, the cafe offers ethically sourced coffee roasted on-site, a variety of traditional and flavoured teas, and the freshest, most delicious food options prepared using locally sourced ingredients. 

This beautifully restored cafe in Lincoln is renowned for offering a unique blend of history, sustainability, and delightful culinary experiences. One of its most unique features is Lulu, a life-sized killer whale suspended from the rafters, crafted entirely from recycled car bumpers and coffee machine parts. Lulu is a symbol of our eco ethos and a friendly greeter to all who visit.

Our café offers coffee enthusiasts a unique viewing area into our Roastery. Watch our master roasters at work, take in the rich aroma of fresh coffee beans roasting, and enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee.

All our menus are carefully thought out, and as you’ve probably noticed, we’re passionate about minimising food waste and making the most of our resources. When designing our menus and choosing ingredients, we prioritise working with local suppliers and using fresh ingredients. 95% of our menu is homemade, including our delicious scones, pies, quiches, fillings for sandwiches and wraps, and even the batter for our fish and chips.
