Speciality Coffee

At Stokes Coffee, our speciality beans are more than just a product. They’re a testament to over 120 years of expertise in sourcing, roasting, and sharing exceptional coffee. But just as importantly, they reflect the incredible work of the farmers and producers at origin, whose passion and care bring each bean to life. From farm to cup, our commitment to quality, sustainability, and ethical sourcing ensures that every coffee we offer does justice to the people behind it.

The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) defines speciality coffee as coffee that scores at least 80 points on a 100-point scale. This rigorous grading process is carried out by certified Q-graders who evaluate the beans based on aroma, acidity, balance, body, and overall flavour. Only the top 5% of the world’s coffee beans achieve this distinction, setting them apart from other coffee.

Our speciality coffee journey begins on farms around the world, from South America to Africa to Asia, where coffee farmers, often family-run for generations, cultivate beans that capture the unique flavours and character of their landscapes, altitudes, and varietals.

Each coffee cherry is picked at peak ripeness to capture its full flavour. After processing, using methods such as washed, honey, or natural, the beans are graded at origin before making their way to our roastery. There, our team roasts them with precision to bring out their unique character and showcase the story behind every cup.

Our speciality coffee beans offer diverse flavour notes, from fruity and floral to indulgent and chocolatey. Some highlights of our collection include:

Rwamatamu (Rwanda) – A light roast with delicate floral notes and a hint of acidity.

La Esperanza (Colombia) – A medium roast featuring a balanced blend of pear, peach, and honey undertones.

Every batch undergoes stringent quality control, ensuring uniformity in size, moisture content, and overall excellence. We also conduct weekly cupping sessions to maintain our high standards.

We believe that exceptional coffee should also be responsible coffee. When possible, we work directly with farmers and reputable importers to ensure fair wages, ethical labour practices, and environmentally sustainable cultivation. By choosing our speciality coffee, you’re not just enjoying a superior cup—you’re supporting communities and fostering a more sustainable coffee industry.

Whether you prefer whole beans or ground coffee, we cater to every coffee drinker. Choose from light, medium, or dark roasts to suit your brewing method and taste preferences. Not sure which one to try? Our knowledgeable team is always on hand to help you find the perfect match.
