Stokes Wins National Approval

One of Lincoln’s oldest independent companies, Stokes Tea & Coffee, has been given another stamp of approval after meeting the exacting requirements of SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval).

Stokes Tea & Coffee is a family company which was established back in 1902.

Nick Peel is the fourth generation in the family and current MD. Along with his team – Nick puts 119 years of know-how into sourcing, roasting and blending coffee and tea for retail and wholesale customers, as well as running two destination cafés in Lincoln.

He said: “We are very pleased to be awarded SALSA certification. It helps us demonstrate further, the precision and quality of our products and our commitment to continually meet the most demanding requirements.”

SALSA is a robust and effective food safety certification scheme for smaller food and drink producers and is a requirement to supply some of the most recognised, big brands such as Ocado.

Companies can only achieve this accolade after demonstrating that they are able to meet and exceed exacting standards. SALSA awarded formal certification to Stokes after its official auditor performed a stringent inspection at Stokes’ Lincoln-based roastery.
