Coffee Profile

ROAST: Italian Roast – Deep, Dark, and Full-bodied

ORIGIN: India

PROCESS: Natural

ALTITUDE: 900m

VARIETAL: 100% Robusta

Our Italian Roast Coffee is crafted for those who demand intensity in every sip. This bold brew is an unfiltered expression of strength, delivering an intense, smoky complexity with deep burnt oat undertones and earthy essence.

Sourced from the sun-drenched plantations of India, these premium Robusta beans thrive at 900 meters above sea level. The high-altitude cultivation enhances their resilience and amplifies the coffee's naturally high caffeine content, ensuring a powerful and invigorating experience.

The natural processing method preserves the best Italian coffee beans' inherent depth, enhancing their full-bodied character and creating a bold and unforgettable cup. Unlike lighter roasts, this Italian Roast pushes the boundaries, embracing the charred, caramelised notes that define true dark coffee excellence.

Whether you enjoy it as a punchy espresso, a Moka pot classic, or brewed with a French press for full extraction, this coffee delivers an exceptional flavour that lingers. It’s the black sheep of our coffee family—intense, unapologetic, and irresistibly bold.

Brewing Recommendations

To fully unlock the complexity of our Italian Roast Coffee, try the following methods:

Espresso Machine – Delivers a concentrated, velvety shot with an intense crema.

Moka Pot – Brings out the deep, smoky notes with caramelised sweetness.

French Press – Enhances the full-bodied mouthfeel and earthy undertones.

Cold Brew – A bold yet smooth experience with reduced acidity and a chocolatey finish.

For the best experience, use filtered water and grind the beans according to your brewing method—fine for espresso, medium for drip or pour-over, and coarse for French press or cold brew.

Italian roast

nice coffee after a meal

Difficult to dial-in expresso. Probably stale beans. Very disappointed.

I don't usually leave reviews, especially negative ones. I'm a huge fan of Stokes coffee, but these beans had no brew date on the packet, I found it difficult to dial-in the grind to get anything like 9 bars of pressure and tasted stale, to me. Perhaps Stoke's online presence is provided by a third party vendor, without Stoke's famous quality control? Such a shame.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Italian coffee suitable for milk-based drinks?
Absolutely! This roast's bold intensity pairs beautifully with milk, making it perfect for lattes and cappuccinos.
How much caffeine does Italian coffee have?
Since it's 100% Robusta, it contains nearly twice the caffeine of Arabica-based coffees, making it an excellent choice for those who need an extra kick.
What flavour notes should I expect from the best Italian Coffee Beans?
Expect a dominant smoky richness complemented by deep, earthy undertones and a distinct burnt oat character. The flavour is bold and lingering, perfect for those who love strong coffee.
How should I store my coffee beans?
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place, away from moisture and direct sunlight. To maintain peak freshness, avoid the fridge or freezer.
